MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach man is behind bars after allegedly attacking a woman during a drunken argument over the weekend.

In an incident report obtained by WMBF News, officers responding to a reported domestic dispute on Blue Wing Drive in Murrells Inlet discovered a female victim crying the front yard.

The victim said that she had been drinking with the male suspect when he lost control, got into her car and backed into her, causing her to hit her head on the concrete. The suspect then sped away and hit several mailboxes in the neighborhood.

The victim claims that the suspect returned to the home shortly after and sped up the driveway, but he turned away from the house, hit an electrical box and parked in a vacant lot beside the home.

The suspect then reportedly began hitting the victim until she was able to fight him off.

PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WMBF) Officer with Pawley's Island Police are searching for two male suspects that fled from police following a chase that began when police responded to a reported kidnapping call.

Officers responded to Myrtle Avenue in Pawleys Island around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday morning to a reported domestic dispute called in by witness. When officers arrived, there was no one in the home.

Deputies arrest man wanted for attempted murder

PAWLEYS ISLAND (WCSC) - Deputies arrested a man wanted for attempted murder last Friday after receiving a tip that he was hiding out in the room of a Motel 6.

Georgetown County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the Motel 6 in Pawleys Island at 9 a.m. Friday and knocked on the door but no one came out. 

SWAT team then arrived and made forced entry into the room to find 21-year-old Damien Chevern Grate.  Deputies also found a handgun reported stolen from Horry County in the room.

Grate is being held in the Georgetown County Detention Center.  He is charged with attempted murder, pointing and presenting a firearm, financial transaction fraud, and receiving stolen goods.

GEORGETOWN (WCSC) - The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is still seeking information relating to the burglaries in the Jackson Village and St. Paul sections of Plantersville which have occurred over the last few months.

Warning of fake phone solicitations using S.C. Sheriff's Association's name

Sheriff A. Lane Cribbs wants to warn citizens that someone is using the South Carolina Sheriff's Association's name and making phone calls to solicit contributions from residences.

The South Carolina Sheriff's Association never uses telemarketing to raise funds.

If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to call on behalf of association, beware that it is a fraudulent call and hang up immediately.  You can report the call to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office at (843) 546-5102.  

You can also leave an anonymous tip by texting the word "GCSOTIP" to 2744637 followed by your message.
