GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Officials have released the name of the girl who died after being struck by a car on the Fourth of July.
Victoria Knowlin, 16, was walking down Powell Road in Georgetown County around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday when she was struck by a 2001 Ford SUV, according to Lance Corporal Judd Jones, spokesman for the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
A 51-year-old man from Georgetown was driving the SUV.
Knowlin, from New York, was pronounced dead at the scene, Jones said. The driver of the SUV was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the collision.
Pending an investigation by MAIT, no charges have been filed.
