Union in crunch talks with ArcelorMittal
GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC)- Workers with the world's largest steelmaker are trying to work out contracts with 14,000 employees, including some in Georgetown.
Negotiatiors for the United Steelworkers Union say talks with ArcelorMittal are slow and frustrating, as the company wants to slash wages and benefit.
The Georgetown ArcelorMittal plant reoped in January 2011 after shutting down in 2009 because of a lack of orders.
Contracts are set to expire on September 1.
