GEORGETOWN, S.C. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard has a new building at its complex in Georgetown.
The building housing the aids to navigation operation is being dedicated on Thursday by Capt. Michael White, the commander of Coast Guard Sector Charleston.
Aides to navigation include things like buoys and lights that help mariners.
Prior to construction of the building, the aids to navigation operation shared a room at the Georgetown Coast Guard station.
The new building has more space for training. It also has an enclosed garage and machine shop where the boat used by the Coast Guard for aids to navigation can be maintained and repaired.
