Driver checkpoints continue

GEORGETOWN COUNTY (WCSC) - The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting driver’s license checkpoints in Georgetown County throughout the month of March.

The sheriff’s office plans to have enough deputies at these checkpoints to minimize the inconvenience of motorists traveling the roads of Georgetown County.

Christmas parade to prompt street closures

GEORGETOWN (WCSC) - The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office will be assisting the Georgetown Business Association in closing eastbound and westbound traffic on Front Street in preparation for the Annual Christmas Parade.

Front Street will be closed to all vehicles from 11:15 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m. because of the Annual Christmas Parade which is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. The closure for Front Street in downtown Georgetown will include East Bay Park to Wood Street and a portion of Prince Street between Wood Street and King Street.

Sheriff’s deputies expect this closure to last no later than 1p.m., if no delays occur in the start of the parade. Plan alternate routes for your travel in the downtown area during the midday on Saturday to minimize any inconvenience.

Closure at Prince, Dozier intersection next week

Closure at Prince, Dozier intersection next week

GEORGETOWN (WCSC) - Officials say the Prince Street intersection at Dozier Street Street will be closed next Tuesday and Wednesday in support of the City's major drainage project.

Access to City Hall is still available from Prince street. Motorists should use Highmarket street to Cleland street to access Prince street beyond Dozier street.
