GEORGETOWN COUNTY (WCSC) - The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office held their “Shop with Santa” program last weekend.
Children were chosen from nine elementary schools in Georgetown County by guidance counselors and teachers based on good behavior, academic improvement, and a social need. Once chosen, the child was invited to participate in the event and given a $100 gift card to Wal-Mart.
There were thirty-six children invited this year that met at the sheriff’s office and were introduced to their deputy or employee who helped them shop for presents. The day started bright and early with juice and donuts at Wal-Mart in Georgetown followed by some strenuous shopping and then a return trip to the sheriff’s office where lunch was provided by Chick-fil-A of Murrells Inlet.
The “Shop with Santa” program’s primary sponsor, and without whom this event would not be, is the Campbell family, owners of the Dead Dog Saloon of Murrells Inlet. The Campbell’s generously donate food and their time, along with their staff who donate their time, for the yearly 9-11 Benefit with proceeds going to the program
