GEORGETOWN COUNTY (WCSC) - The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office took handguns collected in their December buy-back program to a Georgetown melt shop to be destroyed last week.
Last Wednesday, officials took 17 handguns to ArcelorMittal of Georgetown and tossed them into a furnace burning at 3,204 degrees Fahrenheit.
Ed Green, Safety Coordinator for USW, and Ron Ceacal, Manager of Health and Safety at ArcelorMittal, oversaw the effort.
Those guns were collected during the Handgun Buy Back Event on December 3.
